— Released 18th March 2020 on Counter Records

San Francisco-based producer Giraffage (born Charlie Yin) has taken his passion for exercise to the hardwood on “Basketball”, a gritty midtempo cut with the confidence of a deep three that’s made almost entirely from basketball samples. Equipped with an utterly surreal music video to match, the release will also come alongside limited edition, GIRAFFAGE-branded basketballs available for purchase via the Giraffage webstore. “Basketball” arrives on the heels of the heart-pumping electronic production called “Workout”, both released via Counter Records.

On the topic of “Basketball”, Giraffage explains, “Basketballs and sounds associated with basketball have such a distinct timbre in my mind and so I knew that I needed to make a song using them." He adds, "It’s a weird time to be releasing music, but hopefully new art can inject just a little bit of much needed positivity into the world right now.”

“Basketball” and “Workout” mark Giraffage’s long-awaited follow up to the success of his 2017 full-length, Too Real. Touring with the likes of Phantogram and Porter Robinson over the years while notching support from essential tastemakers such as Pitchfork And Billboard, Giraffage has made inroads live and in the studio alike. His outstanding career marks a lifelong evolution, from the “music nerd” child of two Taiwanese immigrants to a world-touring producer whose innovative synth-pop sound has continued to branch out into exciting new territory, a notion that’s slated to continue throughout 2020.
